Make-Do Hack – Sewing Machine Pad

I have a really great inexpensive work-horse sewing machine. I have created many wonderful quilts, dolls, clothing and other sewing wonders for 3 years on that machine. I definitely don’t regret it’s purchase. Until today I really only have had one complaint. It is so lightweight it scoots, slips and slides when I’m sewing. This can be especially frustrating when I’m pushing a bulky quilt through it. So today I thought I would do a little online shopping for a sewing machine mat/pad to keep it from slip sliding away.

What I found wasn’t terribly expensive but I would have had to order one or drive 30 minutes to go see if a local store has one. But I needed it today and honestly I was too busy to spend the afternoon driving around looking for one. I have quilting to do!

So I compromised. I already had some of that sticky padding stuff you can get at the discount stores for a dollar or two. I pulled it out and tried it.

TaDa! It works great! And it saved me $20+ and a trip to town. My machine didn’t slip even once and it greatly reduced vibrating and fatigue for my hands and wrists.

If you have any sewing machine tips or hacks I would love to hear about them.
